Watch the video and learn how to make Moong Dal Halwa in the most perfect way!MOONG DAL HALWAIngredients1 cup split skinless green gram (moong dal)1 cup sugarA large pinch of saffron, soaked in 1 tbsp warm water½ tsp green cardamom powder1 cup ghee1 tbsp semolina (rava)1 tbsp gram flour (besan)8-10 cashew nuts, chopped6-8 almonds, chopped + for garnish8-10 pistachios, blanched, peeled and slivered + for garnishMethod1. Take moong dal in a large bowl. Add water and wash thoroughly 2 times. Drain the water and add fresh water. Set aside to soak for 3-4 hours.2. Drain the soaked moong dal and add into a blender jar and blend to a coarse paste.3. To make the sugar syrup, heat 1 cup water in a pan. Add sugar and mix well.4. Add soaked saffron, mix and cook till the sugar melts. Add green cardamom powder, mix and take the pan off the heat.5. To make the halwa, heat ghee in a kadai. Add semolina and gram flour, mix and roast till golden brown and the mixture becomes fragrant.6. Add the blender moong dal paste, mix and continuously stir on low heat till the paste turns golden brown and fragrant. 7. Slowly pour the sugar syrup, mix well and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes or till the mixture thickens and the moong dal absorbs most of the moisture.8. Add cashew nuts, almonds and pistachios and mix well. Take the pan off the heat and transfer the moong dal halwa into a serving bowl.9. Garnish with almonds and pistachios.
