How to make South Indian Fish Fry | Mouthwatering Indian style tawa fish fry marinade recipe | Madras Curry Channel

Learn how to make classic mouthwatering South Indian fish fry. This video has special tips to get the perfect fish fry, including a mouthwatering marinade recipe. This can be made by anyone without much effort and can be made on a Tawa.

Serves: 3 to 5
Shelf life: Best consumed immediately

INGREDIENTS:
For marinade:
1. Onion, large - 1
2. Garlic cloves -10 to 12
3. Ginger - 1 inch
4. Curry leaves - 1 sprig
5. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
6. Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
7. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
8. Kuzhambu / Curry chilli powder - 2 tsp (Substitute: Pure chilli powder - 1 tsp, Coriander powder - 1 tsp). Increase the chilli powder quantity for more heat.
9. Salt - to taste

10. Fish slices - 400 to 500gms
11. Oil - to shallow fry

Method:
1. Blend ingredients 1 to 9 using 1 to 2 tsp water and make a marinade.
2. Coat the fish slices thoroughly on all sides. Ensure not to coat the slices thickly.
3. Marinate for 30 minutes (minimum).
4. Shallow fry the slices for 2-3 minutes on each side. Alternatively, you could also grill the fish, but, do not deep fry as it would harden the fish.
