Light on the inside, crisp on the outside, Laz's Johnny Cake dumplings are great on their own and even better to soak up the gravy, baby!Subscribe to Laz's channel: http://taste.md/1UH1z0LINGREDIENTS Canola oil, for deep frying 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 Tbsp baking powder 1 ½ Tbsps sugar ¼ tsp salt 2 Tbsps unsalted butter, cubed ⅓ cup whole milk RECIPE Heat canola oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat until it registers 325ºF. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Using your fingers, rub the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles pea-size crumbles. Add the milk and form into a dough. Divide the dough into 7 or 8 (2-ounce) balls. Working in small batches, fry the dumplings until puffed and golden brown on all sides, about 10 minutes.
