Japan Trip 2023 - Glen And Friends Cooking

Welcome to Japan, friends! We've had an incredible 10-day adventure in this amazing country, and about 7 days ago, some of our friends joined us as we explored Tokyo, Koto, and Osaka. Today, we're flying out of Osaka, and we want to give you a rundown of all the fantastic experiences we had during our time here.

While we might not have captured every moment on video, our days were packed with activities and culinary delights. We dove headfirst into traditional Japanese cuisine with a twist. From tempura made with avocado and asparagus to the classic tempura dishes, our taste buds were in for a treat.

We even tried our hand at rolling Japanese omelettes, with varying degrees of success some of us were naturals, while others needed a bit more practice. We used these delicious omelettes in our sushi-making class, where we learned the art of perfecting sushi rice, a critical element in crafting the perfect roll.

But it wasn't all about food! We had a blast making okonomiyaki, even if it wasn't the traditional version. The joy was in the process and the delightful mix of flavors.

Sake tasting was another highlight, where we explored a sake factory, learned about the brewing process, and sampled five different kinds of sake.

And, of course, there were cultural experiences like a formal tea ceremony, temple visits, and admiring the captivating architecture and gardens of old towns. We couldn't help but get distracted watching a gardener trim a tree it was strangely fascinating!

Our love for Sumo led us to a morning practice, and let's just say, we were all in awe of the flexibility and strength these athletes possess.

One of our friends attended a beer festival at Mount Fuji and brought back some incredible beers for us to try cheers to that!

We also had some free time to explore on our own, and it was amazing to see how everyone had unique adventures.

What truly made this trip special was the wonderful people who joined us. Some explored Japan on their own before or after the trip, delving deeper into the culture and cuisine. We had a group chat and shared our experiences, creating a sense of camaraderie that made the journey even more memorable.

Now, we find ourselves at the airport, ready to head back home. Thanks for stopping by and sharing in our incredible journey.
