जवार धानी | Jowar Dhani | Holi Special | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Jowar dhani, a healthier version of popcorn chivda, is made using the season's specialty puffed jowar seasoned with spices and tempering. It is a Holi specialty and a high-fiber whole grain, cooling and delicious snack.

JOWAR DHANI

Ingredients

3 cups puffed sorghum (jowar dhani)
3 tbsps oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
½ tsp asafoetida (hing)
5-6 garlic cloves, unpeeled and crushed
3-4 green chillies, slit
⅓ cup daliya dal
¼ tsp turmeric powder
A pinch of red chilli powder
Salt to taste
3-4 roasted urad dal papads

Method

1. Dry roast puffed sorghum till crisp in a non-stick pan. Transfer on a plate.
2. Heat oil in the same pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
3. Add asafoetida, garlic and green chillies and mix well. Add daliya dal and cook till golden brown.
4. Add curry leaves and mix well. Add raw peanuts and mix, cook for 2-3 minutes.
5. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt and mix well.
6. Add the puffed sorghum and mix till well combined. Switch the heat off and crush the papads and add into the pan and mix well.
7. Allow the mixture to cool completely. Transfer into a serving bowl.
8. Serve.
