JOWAR METHI PAKODA

Ingredients

1 cup sorghum (jowar) flour
½ cup chopped fresh fenugreek leaves (methi)
¼ tsp asafoetida (hing)
1 tbsp white sesame seeds
½ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
¼ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves
2 tsps chopped garlic
½ tbsp ginger-green chilli paste
1 tbsp lemon juice
¼ tsp baking soda
Oil for deep frying
Tomato ketchup to serve
Green chutney to serve

Method

1. Take jowar flour in a large bowl, add asafoetida, white sesame seeds, carom seeds, turmeric powder, salt, coriander leaves, garlic, ginger-green chilli paste, lemon juice, coriander leaves and ⅓ cup water and mix till a thick batter is formed. Add baking soda and mix well.
2. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Gently slide in small portions of the mixture and deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.
3. Serve hot with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
