Kachcha Chivda Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

This quick-fix light snack from Chandrapur is a spicy puffed rice and pressed rice preparation that is finished off with an onion-coriander garnish.

KACHCHA CHIVDA

Ingredients

2 cups puffed rice
2 cups thin pressed rice (patla poha)
3-4 tbsps oil
1 tsps mustard seeds
1 small onion, finely chopped
cup daliya dal
3 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves
cup fried peanuts
2 tbsps ready-made thecha
tsp turmeric powder
tsp red chilli powder
tsp roasted cumin powder
Salt to taste
Mixture of chopped onion and chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Method

1. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Take the pan off the heat and allow to cool completely.
2. Take puffed rice in a parat. Add pressed rice, onion, daliya dal, coriander leaves, fried peanuts, ready-made thecha, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder and salt. Add the cooled oil-mustard seeds mixture and mix till everything is well combined.
