Prawns are cooked in a delicious masala and served with hot bhakris!
KARANDICHA LIPTA

Ingredients

3 cups small prawns, cleaned, deveined and washed
1 medium + 1 small onion
2 tbsps scrapped fresh coconut
1 green chilli, broken
6-8 garlic cloves
8-10 fresh coriander sprigs
1½ tbsps tamarind pulp
1 tsp red chilli powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
3 tbsps oil
Fresh coriander sprigs for garnish
Bhakri to serve
Onion rings to serve
Lemon wedges to serve

Method

1. Finely chop 1 medium onion and roughly chop the remaining onion.
2. Put coconut in a mixer jar, add green chilli, 4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped onion, coriander sprigs, tamarind pulp, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and ¼ cup water and grind to a fine paste.
3. Take the prawns in a large bowl, add the ground paste and mix well. Set aside for 10 minutes.
4. Coarsely crush remaining garlic cloves in a mortar with a pestle.
5. Heat oil in a kadai. Add crushed garlic and sauté till they turn golden brown.
6. Add finely chopped onion, mix well and cook till it turns golden brown.
7. Add marinated prawns, mix till well combined and cook on high heat for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
8. Garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot with bhakri, onion rings and lemon wedges.
