A traditional Assamese meal cannot begin without a bowl of Khar dal! As the name suggests, Khar is one of the key ingredients used to cook the preparation. Khar is prepared by filtering water through smoked banana peels.

Ingredients:
2 Slit Green Chillies
2 Tsp Mustard Oil
100 gm Thinly Sliced Papaya
100gm Papaya
100gm Masoor Dal (Split Red Lentil)
1 Tsp Garlic
Coriander Leaves
Salt To Taste
Khar

Use Soda bicarbonate instead of khar while cooking papaya with lentils
