Try this version of dal cooked in loads of butter and spices. Pair it with some steamed rice & enjoy a hearty meal.MAKHANWALI DALIngredients3 tbsps butter + for garnish¼ cup soaked and drained Bengal gram (chana dal)¼ cup soaked and drained Split red lentils (masoor dal)¼ cup soaked and drained Split skinless green gram (dhuli moong dal)¼ cup soaked and drained Split pigeon peas (toovar dal)1 medium onion, chopped1 medium tomato, chopped½ tsp fenugreek seeds1 tbsp ginger-garlic-green chili paste1 cup waterSalt to taste½ tsp Tata Sampann Turmeric Powder½ tbsp chopped ginger1 tbsp chopped garlic¼ tsp asafoetida½ tsp cumin seeds2-3 green chillies, slitCoriander sprig for garnishMethod1. Transfer Bengal gram, red lentils, green gram , pigeon peas in a pressure cooker.2. Add onion, tomato, fenugreek seeds, ginger-garlic- green chilli paste and 1 tbsp butter. Add 1 cup water and mix well.3. Add salt, Tata Sampann Turmeric Powder and mix well.4. Cover and cook on medium heat till the pressure is released 4 times. Open the lid once the pressure settles completely. Mash the dal well.5. Heat remaining butter in a nonstick pan. Add ginger, garlic, asafoetida, cumin seeds and mix well. Sauté for 30 seconds.6. Add green chillies and mix well. Sauté for a minute.7. Add cooked dal and mix well. Cook for 4-5 minutes.8. Transfer into a serving bowl.
