METHOD FOR MAKING MIRCHI KA SAlAN:
Heat a pan and fry groundnuts till they give out a nice smell and change colour. Add 1 tablespoon coriander seeds and fry. Add 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds and fry. Add 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, 1 tablespoon cocunut powder and fry. Let it cool down and grind the whole mixture into a fine powder. To the same pan add 1teaspoon oil and heat it. Add 1 cup onions and fry for 5 minutes. To the previosly grinded mixture add washed and soaked tamarind, fried onions and grind again by adding sufficient water to make it a soft paste. To big green chillies put cuts as shown in the video. The seeds can be removed if you don't want the curry to be too spicy. Add 2 tablespoons oil to a pan and heat it. Fry the previously cut mirchi and take them into a plate. In the same pan, heat 2 teaspoons oil and add the previously prepared paste and fry. Let the paste cook in oil on low flame for 10 minutes. When the oil starts to seep out, add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste and mix. Add 1 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder, 1 1/2 teaspoon salt, water for gravy and mix. Let it cook for 5 minutes. Add 1/4 teaspoon garam-masala powder and mix. As the gravy thickens, add the fried chillies one by one as shown and let it cook on low flame. Mirchi ka salan is ready now.
