Misal pav is one of the popular, traditional Indian dishes that falls under the street food category.It consists of spicy curry and is topped with some delicious misal chivda/sev or any farsan of your choice. Check out Ruchi Bharani's take on this popular, mouth-watering delicacy, called Misal Pav. Ingredients:2 tbsp. oil1 tsp. mustard seeds10-12 curry leaves1/4 tsp. asafoetidaCoarsly ground paste of ginger, garlic and chilli1 finely chopped onion3 finely chopped tomatoes1/4 tsp. turmeric powder1 tsp. kashmiri red chilli powder1/2 tsp. coriander and cumin seed powder1 tsp. pickle masala (Achaar masala)salt4 cups water 1 1/2 cup sprouted moong (green gram)Misal chivda Coriander leavesMethod:- In a pan, heat 2 tbsp. of oil.- Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida, coarsly ground paste of ginger, garlic and chilli and saute it all properly in the oil. - Then add 1 big finely chopped onion, finely chopped tomatoes, 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder, 1 tsp. kashmiri red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp. coriander and cumin seed powder and 1 tsp. pickle masala into the above ingredients.- Cook the tomatoes till they are nice and soft. - Then add a generous amount of salt into the ingredients. - Once the tomatoes are nicely cooked, add about 3 1/2 to 4 cups of water to it and let the water boil for about 5-7 minutes. - Add sprouted moong to the above ingredients and let it cook for about 5-6 minutes. - Once the sprouts are cooked, add some coriander leaves to it. - Serve the misal with some misal chivda sprinkled on the top or garnish it with some finely chopped onions.
