Aloo pakodas coated with moong dal and rice flour batter.

MOONG KE PAKODE

Ingredients

1 cup whole green gram (sabut moong), soaked in water for 4 hours
2-3 garlic cloves
1 inch ginger, peeled and sliced
2-3 green chillies
Salt to taste
2 tbsps rice flour
¼ tsp turmeric powder
2 medium potatoes, peeled
Oil for deep-frying
Chaat masala for sprinkling

Method

1. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
2. Put garlic, ginger, green chillies, salt, drained green gram and ½ cup water in a grinder jar and grind to a smooth batter.
3. Transfer into a bowl and add rice flour and whisk well. Add turmeric powder and whisk again.
4. Thinly slice potatoes, dip each slice in the green gram batter and deep-fry in hot oil, turning sides, till both they are golden and crisp all around. Drain on absorbent paper.
5. Arrange the fried moong pakodas on a serving plate, sprinkle chaat masala over them and serve immediately.
