So lets get started!

5 Tips To Naturally Reduce Anxiety

1. Reduce or Eliminate Caffeine
Caffeine can increase blood pressure which can result in someone feeling more anxious and on edge. In the new year I switched to decaf coffee and within a few days I felt calmer, less anxious and I started sleeping better. When switching to decaf coffee look for the Organic, Water Process which is a process that uses only water, temperature and time to decaffeinate coffee. Traditional decaf coffee uses a chemical process.

2. CBD
I was really skeptical and nervous to give CBD a try! I had heard really great things about CBD helping those with anxiety and depression and so I did a ton of research to learn as much as I could about CBD and what to look for when buying CBD to ensure I was selecting the most quality, pure product.

With CBD I started feeling better right away. However, for some people it may take longer to see results. CBD has helped me sleep better, feel calmer and less agitated. Equilibria is a brand I have tried and really love for a number of reasons:

Quality: EQ owns their own farm in Colorado. They have their hands in the entire production from seed to home. They make sure all of their products are non-GMO, Organic, no pesticides, no heavy metals and all quality reports posted on their website for full transparency.

Dosage Specialists: EQ has a team of dosage specialists ranging from RNs to Mental Health Experts and beyond that are available to help you find the right dosage based on your health needs and lifestyle. I personally take about 20mg of CBD before bed each evening, which for the daily drops is 2 droppers full.

Equilibria is also having an amazing 20% off site-wide sale happening right now. Plus if you choose a subscription you can get an additional 20% off and then my discount code will work on top of that for an additional 15% off!

3. Exercise
Exercise, especially running, has carried me through so many hard times in life. Running reminds me how strong and capable I truly am. Research has shown that physical movement can lessen feelings of anxiety and depression. The hardest part is really getting started, so start small and make realistic fitness goals and remember that slow and consistent and is better than nothing at all.

4. Accept Yourself Fully
For a long time I felt bad for being an introvert, socially anxious and just anxious overall. But God makes everyone unique and different. I now fully accept that I am a homebody and that the way I like to do things, may be different from others. I have learned to listen to my body and know my limits. I really feel that when we honor who we authentically are, there is peace in that.

5. Eating Real, Whole Foods
As a Registered Dietitian, I of course want to highlight the importance of diet when it comes to mental and overall health! Food has the ability to affect our mental and physical health!

Certain foods have even been proven to support brain health, reduce inflammation and boost serotonin (the feel good hormone!) Include these foods into your day to help ease anxiety:

Berries
Dark Chocolate
Turmeric
Chamomile
Almonds
Walnuts
Pumpkin Seeds
Spinach
Fatty Fish such as salmon
Eggs
