Who would not love to munch on some crunchy, crispy snacks while there's a downpour outside? Monsoon is the time when there's no end to your cravings for warm and spicy flavors. Food blogger Tarika Singh is up with a recipe that is just perfect for this season. It's called onion rings to which Tarika has added her own twist that makes this dish even more delectable.

Baked Onion Rings Ingredients:

1 & 1/2 cups panko bread crumbs
2 onions – 250gms
2 tbsp cornflour/corn starch
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup buttermilk
salt & pepper to taste
paprika/chili flakes (adjust to taste)

Method:

To make the batter:
- In a bowl, add the cornflour and the all-purpose flour and give it a nice mix.
- Add half of the buttermilk to the flour mixture and whisk it vigorously.
- Add the rest of the buttermilk and whisk it until there are no lumps left.

For coating:
- Season the Panko bread crumbs with salt, pepper and paprika and mix them well.

To make the onion rings:
- Cut the onions in a ring shape. (about 1/2 inch rounds)
- Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celcius.
- Line the baking tray with parchment paper.
- Dip the onion rings in the batter and then coat them with the bread crumbs, using a separate hand.
- Repeat this procedure for the rest of the onion rings and place them on the parchment paper.
- Put the baking tray in the oven for about 15 minutes for the crispy onion rings to bake.
- Halfway through the baking time, rotate the tray and flip the onion rings so that they cook evenly on both sides.
- The crispy baked onion rings are ready to be served.
