Our Rescue Dog - St. Croix Rainforest Puppy

"Moving to Paradise" E-book: https://etsy.me/2oGklAx

On July 4th, we were heading towards a farm-fundraiser in the rainforest and were already having a hard time getting Josie {what we fondly refer to as our "island beater truck"} to travel through the muddy rocks with pretty crappy visibility when we spotted this little girl trembling in the bush. She was so scared that she kept hiding and yelping and even bit J twice but after some time and patience, we finally got her to come towards us and almost immediately, she melted into our arms and let us give her some water and dry her off. In the 2 days we've had her, we've gotten rid of her fleas, bathed and fed her, introduced her to our little community and even took her to the beach with us twice. It breaks my heart that her fear of abandonment has her very upset if she can't see us, that she's constantly scanning for food and that her poor little body is blistered all over with the ravages of flea bites. She seems to spend most of her time sleeping {with one eye open at that} since she probably didn't get much quality rest out in the wild. She has the sweetest and most docile disposition and loves to cuddle up as close as she possibly can. Hopefully with love and tenderness, she will come to be less frightened and anxious and will learn that she no longer has to fight to survive. Say hello to Nala, our little island pup.
