Pears Chutney | Gayathiri's Cookbook

Lots of pears from my backyard tree. We shared it with our community, but there is still abundance!!! We thank mother nature for blessings. We tried to innovate different dishes using them!!
We made curries, sweets, pickles and here is our recipe for chutney.

This chutney goes well with Idly and dosa varieties. ( Netiher too sweet nor very spicy).

I suggest you give it a try.

Ingredients:
Onion-1
Red chillies-2
Green chillies-3
Coriander seeds-1 teaspoon
Jeera-1 teaspoon
Tomatoes-2 or 3
Pears-2
Coriander leaves- little
Oil- 4 teaspoons
Mustard seeds-1 teaspoon
Urad dhal-1 teaspoon
Curry leaves- little


Directions:

1. Sauté 1 onion, 1 tsp coriander seeds, 1 tsp jeera 2 green chillies, 2 red chillies until onion is translucent .
2. Add 2 tomatoes, 2 pears and salt. Close the lid and cook over medium flame till pears and tomatoes are soft.Add coriander leaves. Switch off the flame.
3. Grind everything into a fine paste.
4. Heat 2 teaspoon oil. Add mustard seeds, Urad dhal and curry leaves.
5. Sauté till dal turn golden brown. Add the ground chutney and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Pears chutney is ready!!
