Here's a special, simple recipe for you, all light on the stomach to help you get some detox after all the heavy eating during this festive season. Pitla is an authentically coastal recipe close to the hearts of many Maharashtrians so try it out and let us know what you think :)

Ingredients:

1 cup gram flour (besan)

1 onion finely chopped

2 green chillies roughly chopped

2 tbsp fresh cut coriander

½ tsp mustard seeds

½ tsp cumin seeds

Pinch of asafoetida

¼ tsp turmeric powder

½ tsp chilli powder

4 kocum petals

Oil and salt to taste

Method:

Heat oil, add mustard and cumin seeds. Let them crackle, add asafoetida, green chillies, turmeric powder, onions and stir on high flame for a minute. Add cup of water and let it boil. Mix the gram flour in a separate bowl with 2 cups of water add chilli powder and salt to it. pour this in the cooking mixture, Stir well, simmer and cover to cook for 10 minutes. Add kocum petals and chopped fresh coriander. Mix and serve.
