Preparation of Katte Pongali :
1, In a mixing bowl add 1 cup Rice, and 1/2 cup Moong Dal.
2. Wash them 2 to 3 times and let it soak for a while.
3. Take 1 Tbs of Pepper Corns, and grind half of it coarsely. 
4. Add washed Rice and Dal to a pressure cooker, add 5 cups water to it.
5.Add 1 1/2 tsp Salt or as needed.
6.Add 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds & mix them all.
7. Add 1 Tbs Ghee to enhance the flavor. 
8.Pressure Cook for 5 whistles.
9. Let it release the pressure, then will temper it.
10. To a pan add 2 Tbs Ghee & Heat it.
11. Add 1/2 a Tsp Cumin Seeds, 2 to 3 Green Chilies, let them splutter. 
12. Add 2 Tsp finely chopped Ginger.
13.Add 1/2 Tbs Pepper Corns, let fry for a while.
14. Add a handful of Cashews. It's optional. It enhances the taste.
15. Add 2 shoots Curry Leaves, a pinch of Asefotida.
16. Now does the cooked Rice & Dal, mix them thoroughly. 
17.Put off the flame, tasty Kattu Pongal is ready.
18. Serve it hot.
