Prawns Koliwada | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Made famous by the Kolis of Mumbai, this spicy and crispy preparation of prawns is a hit among the sea food lovers. Its flavorsome mix of Kashmiri red chili, ginger-garlic paste and simmered down with a dollop of yoghurt which helps in balancing the flavors just right. Go ahead give it a try.

PRAWNS KOLIWADA

Ingredients

12 large prawns, shelled and deveined
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon Kashmiri red chilli powder
2 teaspoons roasted cumin (jeera) powder
1 tablespoon garlic paste
1 tablespoon ginger paste
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons yogurt
½ cup gram flour (besan)
Chaat masala for sprinkling
Onions rings for serving
Lemon slices for serving
Green chutney for serving

Method

1. Put prawns in a bowl. Add salt, chilli powder, cumin powder, garlic paste, ginger paste and lemon juice and mix well.
2. Add yogurt and gram flour, mix well and set aside for 10-15 minutes.
3. Heat sufficient oil in kadai. Deep-fry the marinated prawns till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.
4. Sprinkle chaat masala and serve immediately with onion rings, lemon slices and green chutney.
