Known for their ice cream wholesale, Chip Guan Heng was established since 1975. Now helmed by the father-and-duo, the shop provides supplies to Ice Cream Uncles who ply the housing estates and streets in their mobile ice cream vehicle. One of the legendary ice cream uncles is Uncle Chua, who has been selling ice cream for the last 20 years. He previously worked as a taxi driver, but due to the 2002 SARS outbreak, he switched to selling ice cream. One other reason was that his mother-in-law was going through dialysis then. Selling ice cream near where she lived offered flexibility; he could rushed over if she needed help. Remember the excitement and joy during your childhood days whenever the familiar ice cream bell rang? Who can resist the allure of ice cream sandwiched in iconic colourful bread slices or wafer biscuits offered by our dear Ice Cream Uncles?
