So Soft! So Easy! How To Make Soft Flour Tortillas From Scratch With Lard And Bacon Fat Recipe. With this easy tortilla recipe you'll never have to buy flour tortillas ever again. Home made flour tortillas are easy and tasty, and this tortillas recipe made with pork lard and pork fat are super soft.


Ingredients:
300 mL (1¼ cup) milk
30 mL (2 Tbsp) bacon fat
30 mL (2 Tbsp) lard
450g (750 mL / 3 cups) all purpose flour
10 mL (2 tsp) baking powder
7 mL (1½ tsp) coarse salt


Method:
Bring ½ of the milk, plus the lard and bacon fat to a low simmer.
In a mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt.
Add warmed milk, and the rest of the cold milk to flour mix and bring together.
Knead dough for 5-8 minutes, until smooth.
Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and let rest on counter for an hour or so.
Divide into 16 equal balls of dough.
Lightly flour your bench and roll out the dough into about 6” rounds.
Cook in a dry cast iron pan over medium high heat; 1-2 minutes per side.
Wrap in a tea towel after cooking to retain moisture and heat.
