Songkran 2015 in Ao Nang, Krabi Thailand.Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year and it is celebrated on April 13. Traditionally young people would pour fragrant water over their elders hands as a sign of humility and respect, and to ask for their blessings. People would also pour water over Buddha statues both at temples and at home. Pouring water is meant as a symbol of cleansing and washing away negativity and bad luck. In modern times this tradition has evolved into the biggest water fight on Earth.Seeing Songkran gives a great insight into Thailand culture and traditions, and it's a lot of fun! It is celebrated all over Thailand including in Bangkok, in some areas it lasts one day, in others it lasts up to 9 days. Songkran is one of the best things to do in Thailand everyone should do it at least once! I came for Songkran for the first time 4 years ago and Ive been to every one since.Parts of this video were filmed on the street, other bits from a tuk tuk and some from a motorbike.
