Stuffed Tomato Bhajiya Monsoon ka Mazza Episode 35 Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Sweet and spicy stuffing inside a tomato coated with batter on the outside and deep fried to golden goodness sounds like a perfect snack for this monsoon. Yeh unique aur tasty snack aap kab banaoge?

STUFFED TOMATO BHAJIYA

Ingredients

5-6 small tomatoes
Stuffing
cup roasted peanut
4-5 garlic cloves
2-3 green chillies
1 inch ginger
1 cup coriander leaves
Salt to taste
2 tbsps scraped fresh coconut
1 tbsp toasted white sesame seeds
tsp sugar
A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
Batter
1 cup gram flour (besan)
tsp turmeric powder
A pinch of red chilli powder
A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
Salt to taste
A pinch of baking soda
Oil for deep frying
To serve
Lasoon chutney
Dates and tamarind chutney

Method

1. Trim the eyes of tomato and core the center to make a cavity and remove the pulp and reserve in a bowl.
2. To make the stuffing, put peanuts in a food processor, add garlic, green chillies, ginger, coriander leaves, reserved tomato pulp, salt, coconut and grind into a coarse paste.
3. Transfer in a bowl and add roasted sesame seeds, sugar, asafoetida and mix well.
4. Stuff each tomato cavity with the stuffing.
5. To make the batter, combine together gram flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, asafoetida, salt, baking soda and add cup water in a bowl. Mix till a semi-thick batter of coating consistency is formed.
6. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
7. Dip stuffed tomato in the batter and coat well, gently slide it in the hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
8. Serve hot with lasoon chutney and dates and tamarind chutney.
