Tadka Bread | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Crumbled bread slices tempered with onion and mild spices. A must try !

TADKA BREAD

Ingredients

6-8 bread slices
1 tablespoon oil
2 green chillies
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
A pinch asafoetida
5-7 curry leaves
1 medium onion, finely chopped
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt to taste
1-2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves

Method

1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan.
2. Roughly chop green chillies.
3. Grind torn bread slices to make a coarse crumbs.
4. Add mustard seeds to hot oil and let it splutter. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, chopped chillies and curry leaves and mix well. Add onion, mix and sauté till golden.
5. Add turmeric powder, sugar and salt and mix well. Add breadcrumbs and mix well.
6. Add some water and mix well. Add chopped coriander, mix, cover and cook for 3-5 minutes.
7. Serve hot garnished with a coriander sprig.
