Traditional mooncakes handmade by 76-year-old artisan at Sze Thye Cake Shop

The artisan, Uncle Koh, began his stint as a pastry apprentice at 12 years old. Now at the age of 76, he is a master of his trade who still handmakes most of the pastries sold in his shop.

For only once a year, Uncle Koh bakes the traditional Teochew-style mooncakes. His bakery greets customers with bright red boxes that spell of festivals. There are many varieties to choose from - the fermented beancurd mooncake, Teochew La Ko, and Lao Beng, just to mention a few less common ones.

It's a one-man show here! It's amazing that Uncle Koh does everything all on his own - from making to selling mooncakes.
