Don't be scared of counting calories in the beginning. Yes, it's true that we "don't need to count them" but it is true that we need to use it as a tool in the beginning to make sure we are eating enough! You would be surprised how much you actually need to eat to hit your goals! Track for a bit until you get used to how much you should eat.
