Poka Date Cake


1. Mix 1 1/4 cup of chopped dates with 1 cup of hot water. Cool.

2. Cream 1 cup of butter with 1 3/4 of white sugar.

3. Add 2 eggs and beat well.

4. Add 1 3/4 cups flour and 1 1/2 tsp of baking soda.

5. Stir in date mixture and tsp of vanilla.

6. Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips.

7. Spread in a greased 15 x 10 inch pan.

8. Top with 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1 1/2 of chopped nuts (optional).

9. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
