1940s Trader Vic's Shrimp Fried Rice - Glen and Friends Old Cookbook Show
Today in culinary history we look at a 1940s Fried Rice Recipe from Trader Vic's recipe book: 'Trader Vic's Food And Drink'. watch Glen cook this Shrimp fried rice recipe that was typical of the time period in both Canada and the United States.

Fried Rice With Shrimp
2 tablespoons peanut oil or butter
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 cup finely diced celery
cup mushrooms
1 pound cooked shrimp
4 cups cooked rice
3 tablespoons soya sauce
1 teaspoon salt
4 eggs

fry onion in peanut oil or butter, add celery, mushrooms, and shrimp and cook about five minutes. Add cooked rice, soya sauce, and salt; mix well. Add the eggs, well beaten, and stir well into the mixture. Cook a couple minutes until the eggs are done.
