Blackberry & Apple Crumble Breakfast Smoothie (one for the kids and you too!)

In case you missed me on @bbcmorninglive with @soverybecca here is the delicious breakfast smoothie that we made!

Packed with the natural sweetness of berries, apples, and bananas, this smoothie is a nutrient powerhouse. Its not only cheaper to make than most store-bought smoothies, but it also provides more antioxidants, vitamins and fibre* (as we use a whole apple instead of apple juice), making it a perfect start to your day.

*it provides more protein too if you use soya or dairy milk / yoghurt too!

Ingredients (serves 2-3)

- 300g frozen mixed berries
- 1 apple, cored and sliced
- 1 frozen banana (peel before freezing)
- 200ml milk* of choice (dairy & soya have more protein)
- 150g plain yoghurt*
- 25g porridge oats

+ a little water to loosen if needed

*If you use plant-based alternatives make sure to buy those that are fortified with calcium and ideally iodine too.

Method

1 Place the berries, apple, banana, milk, yoghurt and oats in a blender and blend until smooth.
2 If desired, add 75-100ml of cold water, a little at a time, to achieve a smoother consistency and blend again.
3 Pour into glasses and serve!

Any leftovers? Freeze them in lolly moulds for a tasty treat later!
