Beans Paruppu Usili Curry | Gayathiri's Cookbook

Paruppu Usili is a traditional Tamil brahmin recipe. You can prepare this with any vegetables.It goes great with any kulambhu /Sambar varieties.

Ingredients:
Beans- 1/2 lb
Toordal- 1/2 cup
Channadal- 1/2 cup
Red chillies- 3
Salt- 1.5 tsp
Hing- A pinch
Oil- 2 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp

Directions:
1.Soak 1/2 cup toerdal,1/2 cup channadal and 3 red chillies in water for an hour.
2. Grind this with salt and hing into a coarse paste.Steam it for 10 minutes over medium flame.
3. Fry the steamed mixture in oil for 5 minutes or till it crumbles and gets cooked.Keep it aside.
4. Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When it starts to crackle, add beans, turmeric powder, salt and 1/2 cup water. Cook until the vegetables are soft.
5.When the vegetables are cooked, add the usili mixture and mix well.
Switch off the heat.
