Bengali Mutton Curry | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

BENGALI MUTTON CURRY

Ingredients

750 grams mutton on bone, cut into pieces
Salt to taste
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 tablespoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 cup onion paste
1 tablespoon ghee
1 bay leaf
2 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
¾ cup yogurt
A pinch sugar

Method

1. Take mutton in a bowl. Add salt, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, chilli powder, coriander powder and onion paste and mix well. Set aside to marinate for an hour.
2. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add torn bay leaf and sauté for 30 seconds. Add potatoes and sauté till golden.
3. Add marinatedmutton, mix and cook on high heat for 5 minutes. Add chopped coriander and mix well. Add yogurt and mix well.
4. Add sugar, mix, cover and cook on low heat for 35 minutes.
5. Serve hot garnished with a coriander sprig.

Preparation time: 1.10-1.15 hours
Cooking Time: 40-45 minutes
