A treat to the cheese lovers, this Cheese and Onion pie loaded with cheese, fresh cream and spring onions are perfectly baked and served alongside some cherry tomatoes and spring onion greens.

CHEESE AND ONION PIE

Ingredients

1 cup refined flour
A pinch of salt
⅓ cup cold butter, cut into cubes
Cherry tomatoes to serve
Sliced spring onion greens for garnish
Filling
50 grams grated cheddar cheese
⅓ cup fresh cream
2 spring onion, finely chopped
1 egg
Salt to taste
½ tsp Tata Sampann Kitchen King Masala

Method

1. Preheat the oven at 180˚C.
2. In a large bowl add refined flour, salt, butter and using a fork mix the butter with the flour till the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
3. Add 1-2 tbsps ice cold water little by little and gently mix till it forms a dough. Wrap and refrigerate for 10 minutes.
4. Take small portions of the dough and press it in the bottom of a lose bottom pie tin, and spread it evenly. Push the dough on the edges using the thumb to form the sides.
5. Cut the extra hanging dough, prick the base with a fork and refrigerate for 10 minutes.
6. Meanwhile for the filling, add cheddar cheese, add fresh cream, spring onions in a bowl and mix till well combined.
7. Break in an egg and mix well. Add salt, Tata Sampann Kitchen King Masala and mix well.
8. Add the filling in the prepared tart and bake for 25-30 minutes. Take it out of the oven and cool for a few minutes.
9. De-mould and garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot with cherry tomatoes.
