Crafting the Perfect Stubby Collins - Cocktails After Dark

Welcome back to Cocktails After Dark! In today's episode, we dive into the world of classic cocktails with a twist. Join us as we explore a recipe from the vintage cocktail book, "Professional Mixing Guide," originally published in the 1940s by Angostura Bitters and reissued in 1961. The book's approach to uniformity sparks a discussion on the balance between precision and the art of cocktail mixing. We'll be crafting the "Stubby Collins" and its unique variant, the "Stubby Collins Angostura." Watch as we experiment with different gins and bitters, discovering how subtle variations can transform this classic drink. Whether you're a seasoned mixologist or a home cocktail enthusiast, this episode is packed with tips, tricks, and a delightful beverage to enjoy. So, grab your shaker and let's get mixing!

Stubby Collins
loz lemon juice,
1 teaspoonful fine granulated sugar,
2oz dry gin.
This drink is served in an an old fashioned glass. The sugar and lemon juice should be stirred well; then add 2 cubes of crystal-clear ice and pour the dry gin over all. Serve with stir rod.

Stubby Collins Angostura
Make the same as a stubby collins, but add several hearty dashes of Angostura aromatic bitters so as to give it a nice, rich pink colorand to give the drink that added zest.
