Drooling wok hei infused Zi Char at 80-year-old Tong Ah Eating House known for Kopi & Kaya toast

Established since 1939, Tong Ah Eating House is run by the 4th generation owner Mr Tang Chew Fue. Known for its coffee and kaya toast, Tong Ah is a favourite destination of the locals for breakfast. Rich with aromatic depth, the coffee is self-ground from blend of Robusta and Arabica coffee beans.

Apart from breakfast, Tong Ah is also famed for its Zi Char dishes. Some signatures are Pig Trotter Bee Hoon, Fragrant Chicken, homemade Fragrant Tofu and Assam Fish Head, just to mention a few. Prepared from scratch, cooking the pig trotter bee hoon is tedious and time consuming, taking at least 6 hours. The result is a mouth-watering, wok hei infused cuisine that one cannot get enough of.

As for Fragrant Chicken, the fried chicken is well-coated with caramelised spicy sauce. Together with the homemade Tofu, one would gobble up bowls after bowls of rice as the dishes are so scrumptious and . Characterised by its tangy and spicy gravy, the Assam Fish Head has thick, fresh and juicy meat that's worth a try!
