Slow Cooker Crockpot Refried Beans Recipe

Ingredients:
2 cups of pinto beans, cleaned, rinsed and soaked for 12 hours
5 slices uncured bacon
1/2 of a large yellow onion, cut in half
2 heaping tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. salt or to taste

Directions:
Place the bacon, soaked beans, onion, and garlic in a crockpot. Pour water to cover by 1 to 2 inches. Cook on high for 4 hours and test for doneness. The beans should be soft.

Once they are soft add the salt and stir. Cook an additional 2 to 3 hours. Then remove the pieces of bacon and onion. If there is too much water in the beans, remove some as I did in the video so that the refried beans are not too soupy.

Turn off the heat and mash the beans with a potato masher and serve. Make some Spanish rice: http://youtu.be/OISsQ6NTMfw

These beans are great with cheese enchiladas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyWQ2DswF5A
