Brown chickpeas cooked with a flavourful masala prepared with mint leaves and a few aromatics. Healthy, delicious & perfect for every meal.
HARA CHANA MASALA

Ingredients

3 cups boiled green chickpeas (hara chana)
4 tbsps ghee
6- 8 black peppercorns
½ inch cinnamon stick
2-3 green cardamoms
2-3 cloves
1 tbsp chopped ginger
2 tbsps chopped garlic
2 medium onions, chopped
2 green chillies
1 small bunch of coriander leaves
1 small bunch of mint leaves
½ tsp cumin seeds
2 green chillies, slit
1 tsp Tata Sampann Garam Masala
Salt to taste
A pinch of turmeric powder
A pinch of red chilli powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander + for garnish


Method

1. Heat 2 tbsps ghee in a nonstick pan. Add black peppercorns, cinnamon, green cardamoms, cloves, and sauté till fragrant.
2. Add ginger, garlic and onions. Break the chllies and add to the pan. Add salt and sauté till onions are translucent.
3. Add coriander, mint and mix well. Allow the mixture to cool.
4. Transfer into a blender and blend to a fine paste with ¼ cup water.
5. Heat remaining ghee a nonstick pan. Add cumin seeds, once they start to crackle, add green chillies, prepared paste, and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Add ½ cup water and mix well.
6. Add Tata Sampann Garam Masala, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and mix well.
7. Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
8. Add hara chana and mix well. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
9. Switch off the heat, add lemon juice, coriander leaves and mix well.
10. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
