Chia seeds are a power house of nutrition. They contain protein, fiber and omega 3's although I've heard that the omega 3's are not converted very well in the body.

What does the word Chia mean? I asked you that question in the video remember? You did watch it right? Well for those who want to know, chia means strength.

Chia seeds are an Ancient super food eaten by the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas. Supposedly the Mayans could run all day eating these little seeds as it gave them endurance.

If you are on a gluten free diet, you will love these seeds as they are gluten free.

Chia can be added to just about anything as they don't have much flavor of their own. You can put them in your smoothies, salads, yogurt, pudding or baked goods.

Here's how we make our hot cereal.

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp. of organic chia seeds
6 oz. of lite coconut milk or your favorite liquid
2 tsp. organic raisins
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 of an organic orange, zested
2 to 3 Tbsp. of orange juice
1 cup of fresh or frozen fruit, preferably berries

Directions:
Place the chia seeds in the coconut milk and add the vanilla and cinnamon. Stir and add the raisins, orange zest and orange juice.

Let the chia seeds sit for at least 10 minutes to thicken. Once thick, heat in the microwave or stove top until hot.

Add the berries and enjoy!
