Making chicken stock or broth is so easy and healthy.

For the healthy part, the broth is great for promoting digestion. Some say it even helps with leaky gut.

It's great for your hair, skin, and nails. There is gelatin in there to help with these areas.

It's also great for joint health as it contains plenty of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and gelatin.

Here are some more great reasons to make your own chicken broth instead of buying it at the store.

#1. It will save you money. You already have the chicken bones from a previous meal so there is no additional cost.

#2. It's so easy because you will be using a crock pot which makes cooking this virtually hands free.

#3. The health benefits mentioned above. You can also control the amount of sodium in your stock.

Directions:
Place the chicken bones in your crockpot and add any vegetables you like.

Fill the crock pot with cold water and add a tablespoon or two of apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice.

Place on low and let it go for 24 to 48 hours. Done. Skim any skum the accumulates on the surface and throw it away.

Cool before placing in the refrigerator or freezer.

I like to pour the cooled broth into ice cube trays and freeze. Once frozen, place in a zip loc bag. 12 to 13 cubes equals one cup of broth.
