How To Clean A Cast Iron Pan It's REALLY Easy!

How to clean a cast iron pan? Can you use soap to clean a cast iron skillet? I'll answer these questions. I'm going to cook some bacon and then show you how I clean my cast iron pan quick and easy. Things to keep in mind:
1. Don't let the pan sit in water or water sit on it. It will rust.
2. Don't use cold water in a hot pan, it might crack the pan!
3. Oil the pan after every cleaning and heat it until it just begins to smoke. Cool and put away until next time. These pans will last a lifetime if you take care of them. It is the healthiest cookware you can use.

Steps for cleaning a cast iron pan:
1. Let the pan cool a bit. Pour out the excess oil. Either use a paper towel to wipe it out or if there is a lot, pour it out and then wipe the excess with a paper towel.
2. If you rinse the pan, make sure it is hot water. If you run cold water in a hot pan, the pan may crack. Always use hot water in a hot pan.
3. Add some kosher salt to the pan along with a touch of water and use one of the tools I showed in the video to exfoliate the gunk. Then rinse well with hot water.
4. Wipe the pan with a lint free towel to remove excess water and place pan on a burner over medium or low heat until the pan is hot.
5. Add a small amount of oil (avocado, canola, rapeseed oil) that has a high smoke point and rub it all over the pan with a lint free cloth.
6. Place pan back on low heat until it just starts to smoke. Turn off heat and let cool.
You are done.
