Now you can make chocolate covered strawberries at home. No need to buy these at the store anymore. They are so easy and fast to make.

As long as you use quality chocolate , these will taste as good or better than what you can buy at the store. They are so easy you will be amazed.

Important tips:
1. Be sure to wash and completely dry your strawberries with paper towels.
2. Best if your strawberries are at or near room temperature.
3. Cook chocolate over low heat (in a double boiler) and when the chocolate is melted turn off or remove chocolate from the burner.
4. Drizzle the white chocolate by bringing the strawberry to the chocolate and move under the drizzle back and forth until covered as much as you like. Sometimes less is more. :)

Ingredients:
36 big ripe strawberries, bigger are more impressive
1 package of Guitard chocolate chips, milk chocolate or semi sweet (dark chocolate)
2 Tbsp. crisco shortening
Drizzle:
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
2 to 3 teaspoons crisco shortening

Directions:
Wash and pat dry the strawberries. They need to be completely dry. Melt the milk chocolate chips in a double boiler with the crisco over low heat.

Once melted either remove chocolate from the stove or turn off. Grab each strawberry by the stem (pull leaves up and away from strawberry) and dip in chocolate, cover 2/3 or more of the strawberry.

Set each strawberry on a cookie sheet lined with waxed or parchment paper to cool. Then place these strawberries in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes and chocolate has hardened.

Don't add the white drizzle until the milk chocolate is completely cold or the two chocolates with blend into each other.

Heat the white chocolate chips in the double boiler and add the crisco. Stir until melted. Make sure the consistency of the white chocolate is thin enough so will flow in a steady stream.

Place a tooth pick into the stem end of a chocolate covered strawberry. Then hold the strawberry under a stream of white chocolate, moving the strawberry back and forth until it's covered to your liking.

Place the strawberries back in the refrigerator to cool completely. Eat within a day or two! Enjoy!

These make a perfect Valentines gift, or birthday gift, or any time you want to make someone feel special.
