Homemade pudding is simply the best! I will show you how to do it so you can avoid those artificial colors, flavors and preservatives.

This recipe probably takes 5 to 10 minutes longer than making the one that comes in a box that you add milk to and cook over the stove. It tastes amazing too.

Chocolate pudding from scratch
'
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp. cornstarch
pinch of salt
2 cups cold whole milk
1 egg
1/2 cup chocolate chips, semi sweet or milk chocolate
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Add the milk to a 2 quart sauce pan and add the corn starch. Whisk until blended. Add the sugar, cocoa powder and salt and stir.

Turn the heat up to medium high and whisk until mixture comes to a boil. Once boiling turn the temperature to medium low and continue to stir for 3 to 4 minutes.

Turn off the heat.

Take your whisk and beat the egg in a bowl large enough to hold half of the chocolate mixture.

Then slowly drizzle 1/2 of the chocolate mixture into the egg whisking constantly until well incorporated.

Then pour the egg mixture back into the pan with the chocolate mixture, stirring while pouring.

Once all the mixture is back in the sauce pan, turn the heat back on to medium heat while you whisk. Once the mixture comes back to a boil, cook an additional 1 to 1 1/2 minutes while stirring.

Turn off the heat and pour in the chocolate chips stirring with the whisk until completely melted. Then stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour into dishes to cool. Serve warm or cold with fresh whipping cream.

See ya soon,
