Ewa agoyin stew is a very simple Yoruba stew prepared by frying onion and pepper in palm oil. It is dark and almost black in color, unlike the common tomato stew which is orange-like in color. In most cases, it is prepared without fish or meat and as simple as it is, it goes well with bread, boiled yam, fried plantain, and mashed beans (ewa agoyin).
