It would turn out dry and just plain lousy. Now I have the solution which I show you in this video.French Toast French Style RecipeIngredients:4 pieces of gluten free bread, or day old stale french bread2 eggs, pasture raised1 Tbsp. or slightly more of milk or milk alternative per slice of bread1 tsp. Vanilla extractReal maple syrup1 - 2 Tbsp. ButterCinnamon is optionalDirections:Place the bread into a dish that has a lip. In a small bowl add the milk and vanilla extract. In another bowl add the eggs and whisk with a fork to combine.Heat up the maple syrup because, well, who wants to add cold maple syrup to warm delicious french toast? Not me.I placed the syrup in the microwave for 20 seconds on power level 2. You can also just place the dish of syrup in a larger dish of hot/warm water and that will warm it up as you cook. With the bread in a dish with a lip (so the liquid doesnt leak off the plate) place about a tablespoon of the milk/vanilla mixture over the bread spreading it to the edges. Turn the bread over and spoon a little more over the bread. You dont want to saturate it completely.Next, spoon a good tablespoon of the egg mixture over the bread and spread it to the edges. Preheat a frying pan over medium low heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and spread it over the bottom of the pan. It should bubble up.Place the french toast, egg side down in the pan. Add an additional tablespoon of egg to the top of each piece of bread and spread it around.Turn the heat up a little if it seems too low. You want to see a little bubble around the edges of the French toast. Cook for 2 - 4 minutes until the french toast turns a beautiful golden brown. Dont cook it too fast or the center of the toast wont get cooked through. Cook on the second side until you see a nice golden brown crust. Then serve with that warm maple syrup.
