It is also gluten free! Apple Crisp Gluten Free RecipeIngredients for filling:4 - 5 Granny Smith or Pippin Apples7 Tbsp. sugar1 Tbsp. brown sugar1 Tbsp. arrowroot1 tsp. Ground cinnamonIngredients for topping: cup heaping each of: Walnuts, Almonds, pecans tsp. Ground cinnamon4 Tbsp. butter, melted1 Tbsp. real maple syrupPinch of saltDirections:Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.Peel, core, and slice apples into a medium size pot. Sprinkle the sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and arrowroot over the apples and toss to combine. Place the pan over medium low heat to start and once the pan gets hot, lower the temperature to low. Cover and stir occasionally for about 15 to 18 minutes.Once the apples are done, pour them into an 8 x 8 baking dish and smooth out the apples with a spatula.While the apples are cooking, lets work on the topping. Pull out your food processor and fill it with the walnuts, almonds, pecans, cinnamon, melted butter, maple syrup and a pinch of salt.Pulse the food processor several times until you get a crumbly consistency.Scrape down the sides of the processor and pulse a few more times. Once you get the consistency you like, drop little pieces of the topping onto the apples using clean hands. Once covered, place into the oven at 375 degrees F. for 20 minutes or maybe longer. You are looking for a little golden brown on top.Serve plain or with vanilla ice cream for a delicious tasting apple dessert thats even healthier than your traditional apple pie.
