Thumbs up if you want this for your next birthday party.RECIPEIngredients:For the cake pops:1 6-inch white cakeAssorted food coloringFor the chocolate cake:1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour1 cup sugar1 teaspoon baking powder1/2 teaspoon baking soda1 teaspoon salt1/3 cup cocoa powder3/4 cup butter, softened at room temperature2 large eggs2 teaspoons vanilla extract3/4 cup sour cream, room temperatureFor the white cake:1/2 cup butter1 cup whole milk1 tablespoon vanilla extract4 large eggs1 cup sugar2 cups all-purpose flour2 teaspoons baking powder1 teaspoon saltFor the galaxy buttercream:3 cups vanilla buttercreamViolet food coloringFor the galaxy glaze:1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon water1 1/2 cups sugar2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk8 teaspoons gelatin powder2 cups white chocolateBlue, purple and pink food coloringEdible glitter and gold sprinklesSteps:1. Make the planet cake balls: Divide white cake into five different bowls and color with desired planet colors. Cake will make up to 20 planets. Set aside while you prepare the cake batter.2. Make the white batter: In a small saucepan, melt butter and add milk and vanilla. Bring to a near boil and then reduce to a simmer. In a large bowl, cream eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Slowly pour in warm milk mixture and stir to combine. Add in flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.3. Make the chocolate cake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line two 8-inch cake pans with baking spray and parchment paper.4. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cocoa. Using a hand mixer, blend the butter, eggs and vanilla into the dry mix. Fold in the sour cream. Pour the batter into the pan and drop white batter into the pans. Swirl around to create a marbled effect. Add cake balls, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until cake tester comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool for up to 2 hours.5. Assemble the cake: Top one cake with 1/2 cup of buttercream and place the other cake on top. Cover the entire cake with remaining buttercream and place in the freezer to set for up to 2 hours.5. Make the galaxy glaze: In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar and sweetened condensed milk. Heat on medium-high and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in gelatin mixture until combined. Pour glaze mixture over white chocolate in a large bowl. Separate the glaze into three bowls and dye each bowl a different color. Place drops of each color into the liquid measuring cup. Place the set cake on a wire rack and slowly pour the mixture over the cake. Allow the glaze to set and chill. Serve immediately.
