Tahini, also known as Ardeh, is a condiment made from toasted ground hulled sesame seeds. Tahini is served as a dip on its own or as a major component of hummus, baba ghanoush, and halva (middle Eastern Cooking) . It is a sesame seed paste and serves as a glue to hold Hummus together. It can also be used to prepare variety of Salad Dressings.Tahini is one of my favourite seed butter because it gives any dish or sauce an excellent creamy, nutty and earthy flavor, making it surprisingly delicious in desserts and scrumptious in sautés. If you've ever made your own hummus, you know that tahini is an essential ingredient. It stores really well in the refrigerator in an air tight container.
