Japan's Dominique Ansel Bakery - Soft Serve on Corn & Watermelon! | Japanese Eats

The much anticipated Dominique Ansel Bakery opened their first outlet in Tokyo, Japan on June 2015. Dominique Ansel is a genius chef known for his famous Cronut creation in New York, a hybrid pastry between croissant and donut.

This video features the watermelon soft serve. Yup, that’s a real slice of watermelon with watermelon flavored ice cream sandwiched inside it. And the seeds you see aren’t actual watermelon seeds; they’re carefully designed pieces of chocolate shaped like seeds. Plus, the watermelon slice is served frozen to give it a pleasant texture and, of course, that extra chill to keep away the summer heat. The ice cream also comes with a side of sea salt, as it’s common in Japan to have watermelon with a sprinkle of salt.

Also featured is the soft serve Crème de la Corn, a local favorite where soft serve ice cream is served on a savory piece of grilled corn.
