Jeera rice/சீரக சாதம் | Gayathiri's Cookbook

Jeera Rice is a perfectly cooked basmati rice with cumins and other Indian aromatic spices.

This aromatic, delicious rice dish goes well with most Indian curries. You can prepare this in less than 30 minutes.

Ingredients:

Basmati rice- 1 cup
Butter- 1 tablespoon
Bayleaves-2
Cardamom-4
Cloves-3
Jeera- 2 tablespoons
Cinnamon stick- 1
Water- 2 cups
Salt- 1/2 teaspoon


Directions:
1. Soak Basmati rice for 20 minutes. Drain water completely and keep it ready.
2. Heat 1 tablespoon butter. Add bay leaves, cardamom, cloves, Jeera and cinnamon stick. Sauté for 30-40 seconds.
3. Add soaked rice and sauté for 1 minute.
4. Add 2 cups of water and salt.
5. Close the lid and cook until the water gets evaporated completely. Switch off the heat.

Jeera rice is ready to serve!
