LEGACY of flavour! Handcrafted TEMPURA in the traditional way since 1957

Welcome to the beautiful Tainan city in Taiwan! I was excited to meet the owners of a 66-year-old shop that handcrafts tempura () in the traditional way since 1957.

Fu Wei Zhen () uses fresh fish meat and secret seasoning to make tempura and a variety of fritters. I loved the chewy texture and delicious flavour.

Glutinous rice sausage is also made by pouring a mixture of rice, shallot and dried shrimps into pig intestine casing. When Chinese sausage is sandwiched in between, it is what the locals called double sausages . I totally enjoyed the medley of sweet and savoury notes!

Tainan is a wonderful food heaven to visit with unique culture. Thank you for watching this cookbook tour!
